I know there are adapater plates made to adapt a chevy bolt pattern trans to a BOP pattern block, so I assume it would work the other way too. I think the company is TransDapt if I remember right.

Re: Buick Turbo 350 Tranny to SBC, How???

I ran a Buick trans in 1 or mine old 72 gmc and it bolted right up I just left out the top bolt cause the buick had the notch up top. It worked good never had a problem. Just a little insite thought it might help

Re: Buick Turbo 350 Tranny to SBC, How???

I think some of the trannies had both bolt patterns and some didn't. I had a T350 once that had both, and I've got a 200 4R that has both. But I think I've seen some that only had the top ears for the Buick and not the top Chevy holes.
If you don't have all the holes in the trans to match the engine, definitely get the adaptor.

Re: Buick Turbo 350 Tranny to SBC, How???

There are a lot of people that ran a Chevy trans bolted to a BOP motor or vise-versa with just 4 bolts in them back in the day. It's only the top 2 bolts that are different. The bottom 4 are the same. There were some cases made with both patterns. That adapter may also require spacers for the converter or flywheel depending on how thick it is.

Only the bottom two bolts and the dowel pins are common between BOP and Chevy. Nothing else lines up unless you have a dual pattern bellhousing.

2nd that.... spend the 50 or 60 bones on the adaptor....or build your own part(been there done that). Just dont forget to add the thickness of the adaptor plate to the (tween the flexplate & converter), & you need to be sure that the center hub on the verter is NOT pulled back far enough that it doesnt pilot in the "big hole" on the crankshaft. crazyAl

Correct, the bottom 4 are the same, it's only the top 2 that are different. I have seen it done, but I wouldn't run one like that myself.

If you are talking bolts.....No sir they are not the same! As Raycow posted,ONLY the bottom 2 bolts, & the 2 dowels match, tween the BOP & the Chevy trans. The exception was the dual pattern (Chev/BOP). then all 6 bolts worked on EITHER engine. crazyAl
