Brake issues
I parked my 64 Panel a week ago. Today I jumped in to take a drive down the road and my brake pedal is rock hard and front brakes are locked up. What could have happened? A week ago it was just fine no issues. I know it has a new master and brake booster i just installed that like a month ago when I did the disk brake conversion repairs (Prior owner already did conversion but did a horrible job at it) I am going to try replacing the rubber hoses tomorrow and see if that helps but wanted to see what you experts may think it could be before I throw tons of cash at it....

Re: Brake issues
Which booster and master did you install? It sounds like your pedal to booster pushrod may be too long and not allowing the piston in the master cylinder to retract all the way. It could also be the short pushrod between the booster and the master. Is that one adjustable?

Re: Brake issues
I m thinking the booster too. Check the vacum hose make sure it is not cracked or has slip off. Also check the check valve

Re: Brake issues
I used factory 72 chevy brake booster and master..I am not sure about a center rod between master and booster I bought them as a complete unit....I will check the pedal to booster rod in morning.. But if rod was to long why would it have worked for several weeks and then just stop working suddenly after being parked for a week. Also if hose had slipped off it woud explain the hard pedal but not the front brakes being locked. But I will look at it tomorrow morning and see..I am hoping it is something simple...... I need to figure this out or it will drive me nuts...

Re: Brake issues
I've had that happen with brake hoses that break down on the inside actually creating a one way valve of sorts. When they get old, the inside of the hose flakes off and plugs the line while it's trying to return the fluid to the master. I've never had it happen to both front brakes at the same time though.

Re: Brake issues
Well replaced the hoses and it didnt make a difference....I looked at the rod from the pedal to booster and it was kinda tight leaving no freeplay so I found problem for some reason the freeplay went away and I was driving with the brakes 1/4 pushed....Its all fixed now...So looks like CaptainFab was the man with the knowledge...
