72 c10 Rear Dif gear options

I have a 72 C10 12bolt rearend under my 65, I had it rebuilt a year or so ago and stuck with the 3.08 gears, what can i put in there without changing the housing? 3.42\3.73?

I think you can do both. Check with Randy's Ring & Pinion.

Re: 72 c10 Rear Dif gear options

It is my understanding that 3.xx gears will all go into the same housing...

Re: 72 c10 Rear Dif gear options

You can put any 12 bolt gears in the housing. However, if you want to keep your present differential case you can use OE type gears only up to 3.42. For anything numerically higher you have to use a special aftermarket gear set with a "thick" ring gear or a ring gear spacer, which some people advise against. I am neutral on the spacer.
