Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
I'm getting ready to install a new Super Trac Bar after installing 4" drop coils. What does it mean to "center" your wheels and how do you do it? Thanks for any info!

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
it means to center your wheels with the frame....so the diff is in the middle in relation to being off to the left or right...and you have the same measurements from center line/frame/mounting pts. to the back of each wheel.

Get it even side-to-side. Just measure the distance from the frame rail to the sidewall at ride hieght and get it equall.

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
I measured and installed mine where I thought it would be centered. Once my new wheels arrived I went back and tweaked it until it was perfect to prevent rubbing.
I installed jackstands under the frame just before the trailing arms. I then used a jack to life the wheels off the ground and pushed it over with my legs until it was spot on. No biggie but it might take you a couple tries to get it perfect.

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
A nylon ratchet strap helps to pull the rearend and hold it,... while you adjust the end link of the track bar.
I usually set the rear axle tubes on jack stands and pull the frame left or right. This works pretty easy and "dulpicates ride height".

Jackstands and a rachet strap and a helper. Measure the side to side and hook the strap to the frame and pull it over to the center and then put the bar in.

Do you put the front and rear on stands or just the rear?

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
I put the stands under the far back side of the frame right under the tailgate.
Then use a floor jack to pick the rear up and center it.

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
Why do you need to jack the truck up? Isnt the bar adjustable at both ends?
I centered mine with the truck at ride height and still on the ground. with the jam nuts loose you can turn the track bar by hand to center the rear. |

Quote:
The ECE Super track bar is only adjustable on the end that connects to the passenger side trailing arm.

Re: Super Trac Bar Install...how do you center the rear wheels?
Set the jack stands under the truck's rear end. The rear end needs to be under load befor you adjust the track bar. Remove the wheels and tires for easy access to the frame and rear end back plates. Measure from the back plates to the exact same spot on frame on each side to find out witch way you have to pull the truck. Then hook up the ratchet strap and pull the truck to center over the rear end. Mount the track bar making sure that it the bolts go through without having to push or pull it in place. Put the tires and wheels back on and set the truck back down on the ground. I always check the measurements again after the truck is back down to make sure the rear stays centered. WES
