72 4x4 Burb I'm thinking about !!
I received some pics this morning of a Burb I was looking at. I did a post on the "Show your 4x4 Burbs " thread a week or two ago and these are the pics I've been waiting for. I'm supposed to get a pic of the spid tonight. I know some of you guys have done body work and I'm wondring, does the rust on this thing look very serious? It was redone in 1999 but I'm not happy about the bondo crack on the rear pass side door and also why it would be so rused if it was done properly. If that cracked like that i'm thinking it wasn't done right which makes me think, what else wasn't done right?

Re: 72 4x4 Burb I'm thinking about !!
Greg: looks to me like a bond "O" job. the door has to much filler on it that why it's cracking, and the front of the rear wheel has a big rust out. my rule is if the filler cracked the guy that did the work was a painter not a body man and the same for the fender rust. i would look real close what the drip check seals on the roof to body look like. if you find cracking this will let water in and rust it out under the paint. most of that will buff right out i think would they supply picks of the underside? the photos of the burb look not to bad. just my 2cs

Hey Greg, The only thing I can say is my sub came from Regina and did not look that bad untill I really got into it and lets just say I had to buy a metal brake so I could make all of the pieces for it. It looks like a burb worth saving for sure but I guess it depends on your skill level when it comes to metal work and body work. If this is something that you are going to take to a body shop and let them do it I would say pass on it and go down south and purchase a truck that does not have as much rust.

Propably a good thing you passed. That body definately has rust under the body work. That is most likely why the bondo is cracking. The rust is growing and bubbling up underneath the body work and is pushing the bondo out causing it to crack.
