LED Turn Signal Teaser.....

Heres a little teaser on what Ive been working on today. Im an LED freak!

These only have about HALF of the bulbs in them so far. Another 9 need to go in but gotta go somewhere so it will wait till later this afternoon.

Oh and BTW - These are NOT easy to do at all if your wondering.

Wow, those are super bright. I'd hate to be the guy in front of you at a stoplight in a Mazda Miata.

Re: LED Turn Signal Teaser.....

These are not yet resistored for final presentation. This would be turn signal if I kept it as is. Parking lighting will be stepped down about 30-40%. Alot of adjustability built into these if need be.

well if youre planning on selling these why not become a vendor? Re: LED Turn Signal Teaser.....

yes... nice and bright!
there are alot of big truck led marker and turn signal lights, both amber and red that may be pressed into service in the old housings with a little judicious trimming.
**
btw, I didnt get the idea he was trying to sell them...
(hence the "lol" laugh out loud after that statement. Agree that at 6hours to build one, I probably couldnt afford a set anyway!)

OK. I looked at it and will see. I have no idea if there is even any interest so I wont be jumping into it right away. Im not here to promote these anyways. Now if people start showing signs of interest then obviously I will have to consider this but at this point I just thought it was a cool idea.

Besides all of that I dont want to do ANYTHING until I make sure they work in the truck and all for at least a week. Being its plow season Im sure if they were to have issues itd be while plowing. Id hate to post up a how to and have them suck although I really dont plan on that as Ive used these LEDs EVERYWHERE in my HD truck. Switches, dash and all. No problems after 3 years.

Just wanted an alternative since I HATE aftermarket base type LED bulbs. They all SUCK. Sick of buying parts where the seller makes em out to be great then you install em and they are dimmer than what you took out. LEDs defenitley are not there yet in aftermarket sector. Alot of these companies building LED arrays and stuff base the resistor values off of the preconceived idea that vehicles run off of 12v only. Well thats not true. Resistor values need to be based on 14.6-14.8v. That gives yourself a tiny bit of leeway. Like these lights the forward voltage is rated at 2.5v. When Im running them at full power they are only getting 2v. That way if there is any spike in the system it wont blow em plus they will run alot longer. That and they are brighter than hell already...lol.

I should be putting in truck today so I will take pics. Then some tonight also.

I fully agree that you hadnt offered these for sale as of yet. With a statement like the above tho, I could see people here wanting to buy some and that is why I made the remarks I made.Sometimes good standing members get jammed up when this happens, so i figured id give you a heads up with the wording we are suppoused to use.
I do like your lights, but ill tell you this I wouldnt want to be in front of you

They are kicked down in parking light mode. Not too bad at all. I have room to bump em back up if I want but as of now I like the difference between the parking and turns because I have an LED flasher box on em for plowing. Wig Wag type. I will be doing my tail lights like this also after Christmas. Should look alot better than those LMC conversions I seen. I hope so at least

No trailer light kits. All built from scratch. I ordered component LEDs from Superbrightleds.com and built everything else. Alot of math involved.

Yeah, they're cheap. My brother's had one on his work trailer for about 3 years now, no problems whatsoever. At that price, you could do it for $h*ts and giggles, and it wouldn't affect anything. Though I'm not an expert in LED's, I've been around electronics my entire life. G&S was my stepdad's television repair business that he started after retiring from NASA.

I wouldnt try to "mod" those into anything. It will be nothing but trouble.

Im doing tail lights after Christmas. Should be ALOT better than LMC's unit they sell.

Re: LED Turn Signal Teaser.....

OK finally got ALL the bugs worked out tonight. Camera shows too much glare as its a phone camera. These are parking lights. Turn signals are slightly brighter. Still only running 2.2v across diodes and they can take a max of 3v with a typ of 2.4v. That would be overkill IMO though. Maybe on my tail lights I will but not these. Look sweet with my strobe box.
