Steering column? 67-68 vs 69-72
Are just the steering shaft's different or the complete column in 67~68 VS 69~72?
I know the steering wheels are different. I'm finishing up my 68 and this is one of the last parts. Happy Holidays! Chad

It's basically just the shaft, the 67/68 the intermediate shaft does not come off like the 69/72. But there are also little things like the shift lever is shorter in 67/68, and the shift indicator is different in 71/72.

Chad,
The 67/68 columns with the long inner shaft also have a different lower bearing retainer than the 69-72. 71/72 columns have a different pointer and shift indicator housing. |

It should work regardless of column year. There's a bunch of threads about 700R4 swaps here, I'm sure you'd be able to find your answer. The detents are actually in the transmissions fortunately, not on the column.

If you're going rag joint to rag joint. It is a direct swap. The only change you have to make is the wire connection on the column. The older ones have a curved connector and the later ones have a flat connector. You can get an adapter on any car parts site. Costs about $15.
