Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
Found this while researching a company to overhaul my gauge cluster that I have bought from a fellow board member. Looks like it fits the original cluster just fine and moves the big fuel gauge to the lower left corner.
http://www.justdashes.com/ReplaceGauges.htm I have no experience with this company, but someone may want to take a look. I know there is a demand for this. |

Interesting...didn't see a price list on the website. Just an order form. Not sure if they really expect someone to order something without know what it costs first.

And you're 100% sure that form & pricing is for the gauges?

So... what does this mean exactly? Do they even sell gauges? I didn't see any but maybe I missed something.
Edit: Okay, found them, but I'm not seeing a price. Last edited by justinburnett; 12-24-2010 at 01:35 PM. |

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
Sweet, I've got one NOS Tach and a used one that I picked up. I would love for the used one to be restored/reset to match that 7K one. That is awesome, it drives me crazy that my NOS one is what, only a 5K? I'd like to put a hot little 383 in my '83 when I restore it.

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
I have a factory tach cluster that I am having worked on by a place called redline gauges. They will replace the internals of my old tach and reface the original face so that I can have a 6,7, or 8 thousand RPM redline.
They replace the internals with a VDO tach and it keeps the factory harness style. Not cheap, but this one has the small fuel gauge in the tach like I have always wanted and this is the only option - or keep the 4000 RPM redline haha. Jsut thought that this might be something that people would be interested in - for a stock appearance inside their truck without hunting down a factory tach cluster and having to repin the clusters. |

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
I have a 86 Silverado it has all options except a tach never did understand why the need for a large gas gauge in the first place. In years past the larger holes was for either a clock or a tach, but as they say on a clear day you can almost see General Motors. 83 burban thanks for the link very useful...Vernski

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
Vernski - No problem
83GMCK2500 - the place that I am having work will use the original face - so that the little filters are still there in the end. What they said they do is they make a print with the factory font, shape, color etc - and then paint it on the original face plate. They also tone down the color so that it matches the older gauges in terms of wear and such. I plan on having a thread made for what they do - so that future tach jobs may go simpler for others. |

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
Here is a link to a board members build. If you scroll down you will see the work that the redline gauge guys did on his cluster. Mine will look identical to this except for I will likely keep the stock face for a factory look.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=435722 If you notice - the tach has the small fuel gauge but they changed the tach motor to a VDO unit, and refaced the tach so that it will read to a higher RPM than the factory clusters offered. Here are the prices I got off the phone. Reface all gauges - 400 to 500 depending on colors and style Tach Motor swap and calibration - 200 Reface just tach - 140 (wouldn't have this cost if you reface all gauges) I plan on putting a speedo with trip into my cluster as well, and he said that they would wind the odometer to whatever mileage I want for free (so it matches the actual miles on my suburban) Just to clear this up - the link i posted at the top of this thread is not from the redline gauge guys - the services I am having done and listed in this reply are for custom dashes by redline gauges. The link I posted originally is for the stock appearance gauges that replace the old ones in your cluster. Last edited by 83burban; 12-24-2010 at 06:20 PM. |

Re: Looking for factory style tach?? - Might want to look here
I haven't decided what redline I want but it HAS to look OEM. I'm going medium duty with the small fuel gauge, I know there are a pair of indicator lights in the right hand side of my cluster and I don't want to loose those. I'd idly like to find a place that can make custom filters for the indicator lights. I wouldn't mind adding the diesel indicator to my cluster and having the filters for Cargo Light and/or something else in there.
