All it has is a L03 305 V8 motor and a G80 rear axle.

Re: found a special edition silverado

i dont think that rear would be useful for anything but a lowrider truck on 13's or 14's lol. 2.73 with a posi? i woulda needed that back in my high school days with my 79 blazer with hyrdraulics on 14" whitewalls and spokes. woulda helped alot in the rain, otherwise tho, dont think that rear is anything special

G80 is GM's Limited slip differential.

G80 on a truck = Gov Loc, not a limited slip, a factory locker. They're OK for a commuter and normal (read "light duty") use, but they won't take abuse.

Re: found a special edition silverado

I thought g90 was "locking differential" that's what our 84 said anyways.

I don't know if the old style clutch posi's had the same code or not but those were the way better ones anyways. I don't even consider a gov loc a posi, they suck.

Re: found a special edition silverado

With a 305 700R4 and 2.73 rear what rpm was this thing lugging on at 65-70 mph?!? 1.600 or so???

Wouldn't that be lugging the 305 like crazy?
Think 3.08 to 3.42 would be much better for that engine thus better mileage or am I missing something?

Unbelieveably crazy... My '88 can barely handle running OD with 3.08 rears, however sometimes I get lucky and get some good mpg numbers. I hit 20 mpg once, most of the time is 15-17.
