First try pushing in hard on the door, then push on the outside button. If that doesn't work try using the key to turn the lock cylinder both directions. (don't turn hard enough to break the key) If you roll the window down you can see the door latch and lock mechanisim with a flashlight. LockDoc

Re: door lock mechanism
Sometimes just spraying some lube on them will work wonders, if it's not just totally worn out. That's where I'd start, that's the cheapest and easiest thing to try.

Re: door lock mechanism
its the inside locking that seems to be stuck. I can turn the key push in the outside door button and I have tried to push the door in. it was strange I worked on the truck all weekend ( in and out of it ) and then today I drove about an hour and now the door will not open. I stopped and had to crawl out the passenger side.

Re: door lock mechanism
Open it from the inside?
Mine got messed up once, i had to take the inside door panel off with the door shut and spray lube the crap out of all the moving mechanism's, but i was able to unlatch the door first by reaching inside.

Re: door lock mechanism
That happened to me once..
I closed the door on a socket, and it twisted the door enough that when the latch caught, it wedged the door shut. The pressure on the latch was enough that I couldn't operate the mechanism. It took my friend pressing in on the door, while I pulled up on the inside door latch. J.

Re: door lock mechanism
There are some good pictures in the last issue of Custom Classic Trucks that shows the inside of the door and the locking mechanism. It is about replacing a broken door handle and also about a wing window mechanism rehab.

Re: door lock mechanism
Well I pulled both inside door panel off so I could look at the passenger side and get an idea of what was wrong with the drivers side. after just a few minutes of fittling with stuff in the driver side door it was happy to open up . no idea - nothing seemed out of order. so since I have the covers off anyone have some ideas on what I should lube the door mechanism with?

Re: door lock mechanism
Any light weight oil will work, Slick 50 (in the spray can), Tri-flow, WD-40 ect. even 3 in 1, Just soak every moving part then start working all the levers and door handle to work it in
