Hatch pic needed
Started the rebuild of my hatch and I am in need of a pic of the handle area (outside) without the handle in if anyone has one. I started with two hatches that are both a basket case. Will try to post up some pics on repairs so far, we'll see what I end up with.

These are the only ones I have of mine. Not sure if they help or not.

Re: Hatch pic needed
BobbyK from this forum did a hatch restoration and posted all the pics on this site back in jan 05. i found it by googling "repainting blazer top" down about midway he has a link called "HERE" if you click it he has all the pics i think you will need. it saved me when all my hardware was in a box and i had no idea what to do.

While was redoing the top.
Unfinished area you are asking for. Mine was broken around the handle as well. Here is a link to ALL the pic's I took while redoing my top. http://public.fotki.com/blazbk/blaze...nting_factory/ .

Re: Hatch pic needed
Thanks Bobby I have your top rebuild book marked, must have over looked the last pic. Thats the one I needed. Worked on that area this weekend and I think I may have matched the profile close enough. Will post pics later, thanks again.

Re: Hatch pic needed
Thought I would post a couple of recent pic of the hatch repairs, the first is the handle location. I took a piece of 16ga and ground a profile that match the lower profile and used it to help reproduce the profile around handle location. I built the area up on the back with fiberglass and finished the front with a thin layer of body filler. The second was the area around hinge location, it was completly gone. On the back side of the face there are two buttons built up for the screw area for the metal hinge covers so I could measure the correct distance for seperation off of my good side. Built that area up, cut the rectangular holes and finished with body filler.

Re: Hatch pic needed
I would try to find door hinge pins that have the same diameter. Most parts stores carry them, so just bring in one for comparison. If the exact size isn't found, get the next diameter bigger with the proper length and bore the holes out to fit.

Re: Hatch pic needed
In a previous thread I was told that the pins that some of the board vendors sell for doors are the same as the hatch pins, they just have to be shortened a little. I have to do that also, will post the results later.

Re: Hatch pic needed
Last repair of all of the missing parts, time to clean up and flip to do outside part of the inner and fit hardware.

Re: Hatch pic needed
Nice. I need good photos of the handle hardware going in. Mine was a chunk of iron oxide and not sure how it's supposed to go in.
