Fuseable link?
so i pretty much F**ked up hahah long story short i was conecting my battery and i connected the -to+ and the +to- when this happend a little peace on my firewall burnt up. is this my fuseable link and if i just replace the burnt wire will my truck still be ok? has any one been as dumb as me to do this im so mad at myself. im just praying it wont cost me but i have a really bad feeling it will.
btw i never put the key in the ignition or anything right once i connect the terminals it burnt up and i took them right off. |

make sure you inspect all your wires to make sure they didnt fry either. Especially check your battery cables. after you replace the fusible link you should be ok unless it was connected for any amount of time.

80, you aren't from south of the Mason-Dixon line are ya?? LOL just kidding. You should be OK like Rusty said, BUT, you could have hurt the alternator. I've done the same thing jump starting vehicles, can you spell "the danm battery blew up?" Keep us posted as to the results. jim

Been there done that haha and tryed starting ! Wondering why it wouldn't start and all my gauges turned upside-down ! Woops but the only thing that blew was a fuse for my radio.. I guess I got lucky.

Did the same while jumpstarting my truck. ( after work, raining, pissed cuz I left my lights on, etc...) I just brushed all the soot off the link an re-spliced my wires which had melted. An it was good to go. Been meaning to replace that link anyways, any recommendations of where to shop for an updated one?

ya it worked out perfect haha. now i just need to find a new battery this one is pretty messed up now.
