64 Crew cab??
Found this on Denver CL. Never seen one before.
I know the 67-72 special-made fleet/railroad-type crew cabs are out there, but is this the same type of deal? http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/2150254523.html

Re: 64 Crew cab??
I've seen a lot of home made ones. This looks like another. The dead give away is the very short bed. If it was made from chevy they would of used a stock short bed. This one is chopped short on the front side of the wheel well.

Re: 64 Crew cab??
GM didnt make them, there were three coach companies contracted to make the crews and limosines and airport buses and others. The short short bed is actually correct, these were made from a long bed and the extra room was put onto the cab while the front of the long bed was chopped. There were some that were special ordered with the short bed and even the long bed. You could get them just about any length you wanted, and size you wanted like C30, C60 etc.
What do you think of this one?

Re: 64 Crew cab??
I have seen a lot of these, online (there are dozens in the 60-66 section) it is a custom crew cab made for the railroad or other company's, most likely by Armbruster Stageway.
The weird bed length is because they used a factory long bed and add about 30 inches to the cab so the wheel base is not changed. They made different lengths so you could get the bed shown, a standard short bed, or standard long bed. They also had the option of one or two rear doors, if you did not want to cough off the extra for the drivers side rear door. |

Re: 64 Crew cab??
They built these trucks using existing wheel bases. The bed is what got altered to make it work out. That truck was professionally converted by Scot or one of the other companies.

Re: 64 Crew cab??
The truck I showed is my dad's, the body was originally used for a C60 with a wrecker bed that the dealer used when the person that ordered it didnt show up to pick it up after two years, yes it sat on the lot for 2 years before the dealer slapped a wrecker bed on it and used it. Then after several years an employee of the dealer bought it and my dad bought it from his grandson.
The pics are from a bunch I took and ur right the last one kinda sux, doesn't it? Anyway the rear window was dont like that because of the wrecker bed I guess.

Re: 64 Crew cab??
I know that they were not very common at all and even tho the rear window wouldnt be as popular as the BBW would be, it is weird enough for us.
Here is the truck from the original post above from back in 2008, there are pics of many others and some interesting facts too. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=304243

Re: 64 Crew cab??
Still wants $6,000 for it and the pictures show why he's not getting it. both sides of the bed are beat, the rear roof had something land on it and needs to be replaced. the drivers fender front is smashed, the bottom of the doors need work, the motor install shows signs of being a complete hack job. the wiring is obviously a mess since about half of it is hanging out of the dash, dash has been cut, and I'm sure I missed or forgot something.

Re: 64 Crew cab??
yeah the optimist in me says "Man that's a great start" then the realist says "Hold on there, cowboy. That's only what you can see in the pictures!"
