71 Bench Seat Question

I am putting a new seat cover on the bench seat in my 71 Cheyenne. The rod that connects both of the seat tracks has come off. I have the rod, and I can see where it goes in to a hole on a flat piece of metal sticking out from the track adjuster on the passenger side. The flat piece of metal sticking out from the drivers side track adjuster looks like it has a "C" notch cut into it. There is not a hole for the rod like on the passenger side. Something has to be missing here, there's no where to attach the rod. Any help will be appreciated, maybe a picture.

Thanks,

Eddie

Re: 71 Bench Seat Question

Those connectors should look the same on both sides. There should be a flat piece of steel with a spring behind it sticking out of the RH side of the drivers track. (it fits into the c notch) It looks the same as the tab sticking out of the passenger one also sticking out of the RH side. It sounds like that tab came off.

Re: 71 Bench Seat Question

I've looked in the floorboard where the seat would be and I don't find anything. I don't know what the piece that's missing looks like. I'll have to look under the seat of my 68 and see what it looks like. Like I said, the piece of metal that sticks out from the drivers side track to the inside is flat and has a "C" notch cut in it. Something has to fit onto that so the adjusment rod that connects both tracks has a place to connect. Once I see what I need , I'll have to find one, if I can.

Re: 71 Bench Seat Question

Its like I said, it looks the same as passenger side. Look at the tab on the passenger side seat mount that has the spring behind it, that is what the drivers side should look like, the only difference is that the spring would be under the seat on drivers side, but they are both on the RH side of the seat track.

Hope you can get something out of these. Sorry about the crappy pics but I was trying to take them by sticking the camera under the seat...
