Pics of lifted 4x4's
Would like to see some more photos of lifted 4x4's with description of lift and wheel/tire size if known(like Jims70GMC has posted). Looking for tire size ideas on the lwb 4x4(it should have 4-6" of lift). I'm thinking 35's with only having the 3.73's right now. Let me know what you're running.
Thanks, Matthew

8" suspension lift (no body lift) 35x14.5x15 SSR radials on 15x14 Weld wheels ( 3 5/8" backspacing)
If you don't go as wide as I did and run less backspacing on a 10" rim, I would think you could run 35's with a 6" lift. Hope this helps.........

6" suspension lift and 3" body giving me a total of 9" of lift. I run 38.5x16x16.5 supers on 10" wide wheels with a 4:10 gear ratio.
Just as Pont pointed out i think that 6" of lift with 35's shouldn't be a problem. As for my truck the tires do rub a bit on the outer back of the front fender, so this season I will be adding another 2-4 more inches of suspension lift to my beast. Hope this helps.

Man, The PontMobile is so sexy.
I am planning the crossover steering soon, with 35's also, but the jimmy will never look that good

anyone see this truck in the feb edition of petersens 4wheel & off-road, says 6 inch lift with 36x14.5 tires on a 12" wide rim, how much backspacing would you need to fit those? this is the stance and tire size im gonna go for.

I did see that truck in the Feb issue. Nice looking truck! It may have a small body lift but didn't mention it. If it is a true 6" suspension lift only, I would guess that he has to be running at least 4 1/2 to 5" of backspacing.
I also noticed he has the same problem with front driveshaft angles that I currently have. Like myself, he doesn't have one installed.

Here's a pic of my 69 K20 when it initially had just 4" of lift (4" Tuff Country front springs and 4" Off Road Design shackle flip) It has 4.56 gears and a Detroit Locker in the rear Eaton axle.
I am also using Off Road Design's heavy duty front shackles and greasable bushings all around. The tires are Super Swamper SSR's on 16 x 8 rims. The tire size is 35x12.50x16. With the 4" lift I never had any rubbing but I never had the truck flexed out. It probably would have had minor rubbing up front.

This next pic is after I added some leaves to my rear spring pack to get some extra weight capacity and replace a broken rear leaf - brought rear lift up to 7 1/2". The front was also changed by adding a spring that makes the front pack a heavy duty Tuff Country spring pack rather than an Ez-Ride spring pack. I also had a centerbolted over-sized shim built that is similar to the Zero-Rate block that Off Road Design sells. That brought the front up to about 6" of total lift. I always mention what many already know, a straight lift block on the front axle is a no-no. I don't plan on keeping the center bolted block that I am using but supposedly they are safe since they are bolted to the spring pack. I know some do not agree with this as a safe approach.

I hope this turns out. I had to resize pic. after downsizing for name field.
It's a 71 GMC 1/2 ton, with 3/4 ton axels and suspension. There are 2 1/2" blocks under 8 leafs on rear and no blocks under 5 leafs up front. She runs on 33x12.5x16.5 tires, but looks like I could go to 35" with minimal rubbing at max flex. |

Here's my '72 Custom Camper w/a Superlift 4" suspension lift, no body lift. Sits on 35x12.50x16.5 BFG ATKOs (pic shows the worn out MTs I just replaced) on 16.5x9.75 slotted mags (American Racing, I think) w/4.5" of bs. No problems rubbing anywhere. Dana 60 rear, Dana 44 up front; 4.10 gears. Dual Rugged Trail shocks front & rear. Sorry I don't have a good broadside pic handy.

Here's a pic of my longbed. It's got 4" of lift and 33" tires on a 12" wide wheel. I'm not sure of the backspacing but it sits pretty wide without a lot of lift. BTW, if anyone's interested in buying some aluminum wheels, mine are for sale!
Hope this helps. Last edited by Slick71; 03-12-2003 at 11:56 PM. |
