Re: GM serpentine belt system ?

The 4.3 was put in mid year 88 in the s10. The braket in 88 was a steel one piece and is not the most desirable. In 89 the most common two piece bracket was used in the s series as well as the c-k full sized trucks. That braket remained basicly unchanged untill 96 when the vortec styled motor came out [4 bolt on intake per side]. 96 -99 had a bracket that mounted the alt on pass side a/c on driver side [that backwards from the other stlye] You will also need the water pump and the fan and clutch to keep from overheating as they turn backwards from the v-groove type water pump.If you happen to find a set up that has a smog pump it can be removed as some trucks can from the general without them starting in 90 I think if I remember right. You can change the pressure valve on the back of your pump andnot have to change your pressure line or you can buy an adapter if you want the tighter feel that the newer pump will give. If I have left anything out I'm sorry. If you need more help I will be to and others will chime in to fix my statments if incorrect.Jim

Re: GM serpentine belt system ?

my serpentine setup is off a 4.3 unknown year i took everything off the front of the motor water pump, alternator, brackets, i then bought the ac compressor delete pulley and the 1 wire adapter for the alternator i do not have the part numbers on either of them but if you do a little searching around on the board you will find the part numbers, also good luck on the belt, that was the worst part of it was finding the right belt i even measured and double checked it still took 3 or 4 tries...
