Another Ram Horn Question
I have been told by several that straight dump Ram Horns will not work on my "72" due to lack of room. They tell me they must be the Ram Horns that curve back in order to clear. Since you guys on the board have experience with this, which is true: I need the curved back or the straight will work with no problems?

I have straight dumps on my '72 and there's plenty of clearance. But mine's a 4x4; the motor is mounted back in the I-6 position.
See this post, it has a good explanation: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=44042

I repeat what Stout72 says. Mine has straight and mine is also a 4X4. Stock, by the way!

I looked into putting straight dump on my 350 after the rebuild, but it wouldn't work for some reason, can't remember why. When it came down to it, I just couldn't spend that much on manifolds and got headers instead. If you don't mind me asking, why not install headers?

I have a straight dump on the passenger side of my 2wd truck with a 350 mounted in the V8 position, works fine but the exhaust pipe must make a fairly quick turn rearward as soon as it leaves the manifold, to avoid the crossmember...
Angled style would be a better choice, but for those with the motor in the V8 position wanting to run the larger vette manifolds that only dump straight down, it's do-able...
