My 04 Z71 tahoe has hydro-boost brakes???
My friends 05 silverado 1500 doesnt....

what gives...?

Hydro boost option didn't get checked when his truck was built or doesn't come with certain options, which made the hydroboost unavailable for that build of truck. Brakes systems aren't all identical.

My 04 Hoe Z71 also has hydroboost brakes while my neighbors 04 Z71 pick up has vacuum brakes. My old 02 Hoe Z71 had vacuum as well. One difference is the 04 has power adjustable pedals. Not sure if that drove on the hydroboost or if they just added hydroboost to address the typical GM mushy brake pedal everybody was complaining about back then on SUVs. None the less, the brakes on my 04 with hydroboost are still sucktastic compared to the HD trucks. The Hoe just doesn’t want to stopppp even when it was new.
