4-link ideas

I want to 4-link my truck and looking for ideas on building my own bars and brackets, bushings etc. I'm leaning towards a triangulated 4 link set up, bag on bar. I looked at ordering a kit but nothing is reasonable and shipping is a killer, I know I can build it myself, as many others already have done the same..

Re: 4-link ideas

I'm actually building my own wishbone link setup right now, and to be honest, I should've just bought one like the suicidedoors kit. I have the ability for sure but just the cost of buying bushings and all the metal is really not saving me a whole lot. I also ended up buying axle tabs and all the mounts too just because it was so difficult to make that many exact copies with what I had. ( cutting torch, grinder, and drill) not to mention all the time it takes to fabricate to your liking. but if you have the tools to make copies and maybe a hole drill, you should go for it. But I'll have some more progress done tomorrow on the 4 link. And I'll post up here

Re: 4-link ideas

You can do it your self, but there are a lot of very reasonable priced kit out there. I would do a triangulated 4 link if it were me. You might have enough room to triangulate the bars properly on a LWB, but I would consider a wishbone instead.

Take a look in our suspension forum for a LOT of info on the topic.

Re: 4-link ideas

thanks guys, yes there are lots of reasonably priced kits out there....it's just that the shipping isn't reasonable! ....thats the only reason why I'm cosidering building my own. I don't want to pay for a kit twice.

Re: 4-link ideas

Doing this same thing myself but im gonna do a traditional 4-link with coilovers. There are alot of reasonable kits out there. Check out the board venders for better pricing.

Re: 4-link ideas

I got my lower bars all tacked up today. Here's a pic. Check out my build thread to see a couple more once I get it updated in a few minutes.

Re: 4-link ideas

I'm not expert, but don't you need a spherical rod end on the front of your wishbone?

Re: 4-link ideas

Im no expert either. I just built mine off of info from various kits. I don't think the spherical rod end is completely necessary. Even on the basic suicide doors wishbone kit it has the regular rod ends and bushings.
