Dual wheels on a dana60?

I thought of running duel wheels on my 68 GMC 2500. It has a dana60 (8-lug) rearend. Can this be done? what, if anything must be modified? longer wheel studs perhaps? Any help appreciated.

Do you want a wide set up like the pickups, where you need fenders, or do you want a cab and chassis style, where the added tire is more inbound and the outer is only moved out a little bit?

Thanks for the reply LHM,

The latter I suspect. I don't want to change the factory fleetside bed or add anything (like mudflaps) if I don't have to. I do have leaf springs if that makes a difference. Also, are all 8-lug wheels the same bolt pattern regardless of make?

Re: Duel wheels on a dana60?

8 lugs are the same for all GM, IH, Dodge, and Pre 97 Ford (8x6.5). 97 and Later Ford are slightly different (8x170mm).

What can get you in trouble is the centerbore of the wheels. I have a set that won't fit my 68 K20 because my D60 rear's drive flanges are too big.

Was there a follow up to this question sir? Seems like you needed my answer to your question before you could answer my question? Or am I totally fusterclucked in my thinking here.

I did it and had to press longer studs into the hubs and run a 3/4 inch spacer between the inner wheel and brake drum.
