OEM Dana hub question

For you OEM parts gurus:

I've been doing a bunch of research, and it indicates my truck should have yellow hub knobs in the OEM Dana 44 hub locks, with SPICER stamped into the knobs.

I also understand that the red knobs should have FORD stamped into them.

The question is, the hubs on my truck are the correct Dana 44 internal hub locks, but my knobs are unmarked and they're red. No SPICER, no FORD, nothing stamped on the knobs at all.

Did such a thing ever exist (maybe with a spicer decal like the Dana 60 had)? Or are these some kind of old aftermarket knobs?

also, were there ever blue knobs for the internal 44 locks?

Re: OEM Dana hub question

we have had three blazers 70,71,72! the 71/72 both had blue lockouts and the 70 had red lockouts with SPICER on them. the 70 was a three speed and a Dana transfer case i think?

Re: OEM Dana hub question

Interesting, red with spicer markings.

I probably should have mentioned years before - my truck is a '69, but it has a december '68 build date and I have the closed knuckle dana 44 (which was last used in '68, my research shows), and a few other '68 leftover parts.

anyone with '67, '68 or '69 4wds want to chime in?

the closed knuckle 44 was used in 69, in 70 it was open knuckle 44 with drum brakes and from 71 on up it was open knuckle with discs. not sure on exact year GM switched to the corp 10 bolt-77 i believe.

Re: OEM Dana hub question

I *think* 69 and 70 did use red on the blazers, but not aware it had spicer on it. I thought they were plain. Not sure what the trucks would have in 69-70. I think also that some of the 3/4 ton gmc trucks (big hub) used the red with no markings.
I am just going off of trucks i have seen and brochure pics, and can't really document.
