how to adjust shifter on steering column 71 chevy 350/350
the shifter is sloppy, loose any way to adjust it or tighten it up?

Mine needed adjustment to the linkage under ther truck to get the pointer to lign up correctly

so its on the tranny that needs to be adjust? nothing on the column

As i recall, its been about 15 or more years, there is no detent in the colume all the detents are in the tranny, look under the truck and there is a rod comming off the colume, it connects to another rod, one of then has a hole the other slips thru and a bolt to tighten it, the trick is to loosen the bolt and then get the shifter where you want it and retighten the bolt. any detent issue would be in the tranny or with worn linkage at the tranny
