Re: Wanting to see custom fan shrouds
I fell into the trap of doing electric fans and mmilking the HP out of the engine.

Re: Wanting to see custom fan shrouds
This setup is a Be Cool radiator with a set of SPAL dual 11" fans. I got them when I updated the truck to a stroker engine. However I put the exact same fans on my 1991 Chevy shortbed daily driver and I used the factory radiator in it. The fans are pullers, that is why they are inside the engine compartment. The puller fans are more efficient than a pusher anytime. The fans are mounted to aluminum "millstrap" pieces that I purchased at the local hardware store. The straps allow me to run the shrouds close to the radiator but not actually touching it. That is important, so that there is no recirculated air and loss of efficiency.
The fans that I am using move approximately 2800 SCFM of air and it is more than enough to cool the truck in any weather condition. I live in Kansas and the truck in the picture has been to the gulf coast on the Hot Rod Power tour, so it has seen hot and sticky. I run the fans on an elcetronic fan switch, so that they do not both come on at the same time and if needed they are staged on as the temperature rises. Enclosed is a picture of the same style fans on my 91 truck. The removal of the factory fan helped me in the winter when warming up the truck, also it allowed for better fuel mileage. The first fan does not come on until the temp gets to around 180 degrees and then it is at a slow speed.

Re: Wanting to see custom fan shrouds
awesome!! I'm interested in maybe trying it out for my 88 which is mostly a daily drive as well to help save gas and make some power with less drag. Plus it cleans it up alot, although I did want to do a pusher setup but most said on the 88 it would not work, not enough room.
