How can I tell what...
year model front suspension/brake sytem I have on this truck? I can't get the brakes to bleed so I have surmised that the master cylinder must be bad, but I cannot figure out what the proper master cylinder for it is. Is there something I look at to see what year model it is? It is 5 lug and disc up front, other than that, I don't know what else to look for. I have attached some pictures to see if anyone can id this master cylinder.

Re: How can I tell what...
I guess I should have told you, that I did that today for a while. The parts guy checked 69 through about 80 and none seemed to match up. I thought that the previous owner told me that he had converted the front end to a mid 70's but the master cylinder the parts guy showed me did not seem to match.

Re: How can I tell what...
As long as the hole in the back is the same depth and the line fitting are the same size they are pretty universal

Re: How can I tell what...
Go and ask your parts guy if a 73 - 77 is the same P/N. That would cover "mid 70's", and I'll bet they are all the same. Yours may not be the same brand as what your parts guy has.

Re: How can I tell what...
It looks exactly like this one http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...+50014+2014024
Which has a 1-1/4 bore and fits a 71 C-10 along with others. As 1low said, check the depth of the hole in the piston to be sure they are the sa^^e. |

Re: How can I tell what...
Does the one you parts guy has look like any of these? Like stated earlier, I think there are several styles that could be used. Your parts store probably only offers one style.

Re: How can I tell what...
The one pic in your original post is the one I have seen most often.

Re: How can I tell what...
I had to find a new gasket for mine like that one. Talk about a pain.....turned out the only one that fit was a f@&d part number... Those master cylinders are for our trucks right?

Re: How can I tell what...
As usual you guys were correct. Napa had the correct one for a 72. They had a couple different models for the same year model. Thanks again.
