I bought my truck off of a small farm in Elgin Texas and the PO had welded a 1/2" steel plate in floor of the bed. Truck looked like it had been lowered 2" in the rear till I took that bed off.

Re: poorboy 64 GMC update

1 question: Can somebody what sealant to use for the vent window?
2 question: How to troubleshoot the ignition switch? My truck will not turn on and I suspect the switch? I left the switch on over night and from there is does not turn on. I am using a screw driver to make the starter make contact. Engine turns but I am not getting combustion. Might be carbarnator? years not being used.

Any help will do. thx

Re: poorboy 64 GMC update

Vent window only has rubber, no sealant.

Since you have an automatic, check to see if the neutral safety switch is moved or not connected or bad.

Re: poorboy 64 GMC update

I was reading this link:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=351471
(wing,vent window rebuilt forum)
and I guess I am using the wrong term. Its not the vent window channel, it's the glass window. I order this from MCL complete kit and it did not came with it.

I am converting the truck to auto but I'll check the points and surf the web for instruction on how to replace them. I bought feeling and points but I was told if there's no burn mark and spark plug are sparking then it not the points. They do have a "light" spark.

Re: poorboy 64 GMC update

if your talking about the glass fitting into the wing window frame, still no silicone, you use the glass "tape" that is basically thin rubber and you sorta jam it in the groove....gently.

Umm if your barely getting spark, check your coil too, it could be bad.

Where can I buy the glass tape for the wing glass? MCL does not have it.

Re: poorboy 64 GMC update

If you are still running points and condensor then I would say to look there first. If you leave the ignition on for a long period of time without the motor running you will burn the points out if the points are "made". Leaving the ignition on can also damage the condensor.

On another note: Bad grounds are usually the first things to happen in an electrical system. Make sure all contacts and tight, clean and free of chicken feathers!
