Re: side pipes ?

In '75, I had a SWB '65 Fleetside and ran a pair of Thrush side pipes on it. In retrospect, it was cheesy, but I didn't know it, at the time.

So, yeah. You can do it.

I dont think they look cheesy at all. Especially when you are talking about 1975. Back then they were putting side pipes on everything, it was the "style of the times"

Course I may like em because it was cool when I was a kid. Several good looking sets pictured on this thread ... Hmmm, wonder what they would look like on my K20? Course then I would need to get rid of the steelies and find some mags. Thank goodness Im broke right now, change is expensive lol.

Re: side pipes ?

They can help end a relationship real quick if your significant other burns a bare leg on one. Or your own legs if you wear shorts pretty often. I had a pair on the 48 at one time and was glad when I got rid of them during a rebuild.

Re: side pipes ?

I think they look very clean if done right. although my 8 year old daughters best friend just burned her legs after I just got done saying "be careful of the pipes when you get out". It only happens once then you remember. The long glass pack sounds really good too. These are from Patriot.

Re: side pipes ?

This looks pretty cool. Diameter and length of the pipe fits nicely. What kind of drop is on that truck?

Truck sits on a 4/6 drop and the pipes are 3.5" diameter, and 73" long from Patriot. They come with a silly collector that is a dummy 4 into 1, where only one pipe works and the rest are just for show. I did not like that so I custom built a 3.5" 90* mandrel bent pipe and had it chromed. Hooker has the same type set up but it is 4" and I thought that might be a bit too big.

I have to say this looks cool to me, and seems to sit well with our shape trucks.....got me thinking now.

Re: side pipes ?

This reminds me of the side pipes on the black Chevy Van from Old School. I always loved the scene with that thing.

Like these? I ran straight dual lake pipes on my 350. Wish I never got rid of this one. Was my first Project/first truck/first vehicle. I am stupid :-(

Re: side pipes ?

Thanks fellas , I think I"m sold . They all look great . Mine sits a little low , not slammed , so maybe I can tuck "em in just a fuzz so they sit almost even with the rocker panel . Love that old skool look , maybe I won"t get burned !

I wish the chain wasn't in the way. I tried every angle and settled for that.

Re: side pipes ?

Be careful and remind others about them when they get out. Cause atleast 4 people had gotten burnt on the leg bad. They have the scars to prove it
