71 C10 seat replacement??
I'd like to change the seat in my '71 with a modern, supportive bench type seat with maybe a fold-down center armrest/cupholder that could be put up to still allow three people bench. Has anyone done this and could you tell me what car/truck you got it from? Some SUV seats, especially rear or second row seats look like they'd work.
Can it be done without moving tank to below bed? Any ideas? |

Re: 71 C10 seat replacement??
I put in a late 90's Tahoe/Ext Cab 60/40 split bench. It sits a little higher than than the stock seat but I have plenty of room and I'm 6'1".
I like it, it has the center console that can fold up to make room for 3 but I do have to move the seat a little forward to be able to raise it. But it's easy with a driver side power seat I had to drill all new holes to mount it and fab a bracket for the center where the trans hump is. I don't have any pictures but I can try to snap some if you are interested. Also, moving the gas tank under the bed will not give you more room. The seat back is still going to be right up against the panel below the rear glass. Dan

Re: 71 C10 seat replacement??
Any of the 88-98 seats will work, but the 40-20-40 seat is probably what you would like. The arm rest will fold up to allow 3-across seating. It doesn't have a cup holder, tho. Check out the '99-up seats, too. I think the widths of the '88-up seats is pretty much the same. Only real difference is the way the belts mount, which will make a difference in how you mount the seat. The '88-98's are your best bet, but good ones are getting hard to find without having them recovered. www.latemodelrestoration.com has covers, though.

Integrated seats with the belts attached in the Silverados could be easy to find in your local yards. 94-03's?
