What mill are you guys running??

My truck is an 81 chevy stepside chopped and lowered, I'm running a 1970 350 chevy motor right now. It runs good but I was going to freshen it up this spring & do a head swap.... but I came across an olds 455 & really think I want to run it instead of the 350. Anyone else running different mills in their trucks?

I hope you have a build thread. I want to see the swap info and some pictures. Please post a link. That is awesome.

Re: What mill are you guys running??

Had a '81 stepside with a hot Olds 455 in it.

It came from the factory with an Olds 350 diesel in it, so the 455 was pretty much a bolt-in.

Stick with the SBC, parts are cheaper and more readily available.

The sbc is great but I now have the 455 & I was going to pull the motor out to freshen it up anyway so..... As for a build thread, well I need to collect a few parts before I start the swap but as soon as I start I will take lots of pics & post them.

erikgto.. I bet it was a fun ride. My truck is sort of a ratrod so I thought the 455 would be cool.

Go with the 455 if you have it already, take the money and build the 455 mildy and youll still have a beast. Atleast its different than a standard SBC

Re: What mill are you guys running??

I don't have to many pics yet, I got the truck last summer & really just made it my daily driver on nice days. I changed a few things like the grill, carb, & added an electric fan. I also picked up another stock hood... I'm gonna make my own cowl hood, just have'nt had the time to start tearing into it yet because I'm knee deep into another project at the moment & one more waiting before the truck. Soooo I've got lots of time to collect some goodies for the 455 lol. Here's a few pics I have...

Re: What mill are you guys running??

My '77 K20 had a 400 SBC. It came out and a 454 BBC went in. Soon a 572 BBC will replace that...
