67-72 wish list
Ok, my son (cjracer96) and I are starting a wish list for his truck. He is almost 15 and we need to get busy. We want a big list. What I thought might be interesting for him to see is what cool things that others here have done to their trucks and we can build off of that. He loves these trucks, he loves them from stock to hot rods to fully showed out.
What we would like to see is some links from the board of specific mods and such. From mild to wild, we will take it from there! For example, I just saw this and I dig it: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=447572 Lets see what you got! Oh yeah I (and Corey) thank you!

Re: 67-72 wish list
Probably the LED taillight upgrade, but realistically it's not something I would see much benefit from. My next big upgrade will be HID's as I have them on my older BMW and LOVE it.
I also would like to drop the truck 3-5" I've got factory AC minus the compressor and would like to get that up and running before the CA summer gets too bad.

Re: 67-72 wish list
Here's a basic link to the LED tails, I will likely order one of the kits from the board vendors and swap out the rear bulbs for LED too.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...LED+tail+light Here's the Jeep conversion link similar to the one above. I will swap in a whole HID setup though (with ballasts, not just H4 bulbs.) http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=318973 And here's a link to how I am going to drop my 3/4 until I can convert it to coil springs in the rear. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...%2F4+ton+cheap

Re: 67-72 wish list
I don't want to be a wet sock but do the three point seat belts (which I haven't yet) - do the cool AND the "SAFER".
Oh yeah.... don't forget the brick under the accelerator pedal (for the first year anywho...). Awesome thing you are both about to get into.

Re: 67-72 wish list
We, as a group, think the '67-68's are cleaner, based on the profile and appearance of the grille. The '69-72 grills are more vertical. So, anything that might make the latter models more aerodynamic (so to speak) is good. A few years ago, Custom Classic Trucks magazine had an article on how to do a pie-cut hood, on a '69-72. It's one of those subtle mods that make you scratch your head. Other things include ditching the drip rails...but be mindful that there are 3 layers of metal at that juncture. Filling the stake pockets are easy mods. A flip kit for the tailgate handle is another item. Stacy David (Gears) did a mod on one of these trucks, when he extended the front bumper so that it actually wrapped around the front fender. That was on one of his shows, so the video is "out there". Chip Foose did an Overhaulin' program in which he used the lower body trim from a '67-68, on a 69-72. Easy mod, but subtle.
Already mentioned is the disc brake conversion....for the front brakes. Of course, you have the option of stock height or lowered spindles, when you do the conversion. Your call. Out back, if you go more than 4-inches lower (assuming you have coil springs), you will want to consider ECEs' crossmember that raises the mounting ends of the trailing arms, to get you add'l ground clearance. If you go with bags, I'd give it a serious nod. Good luck. You and your son will bond, as my youngest son and I are now doing...11 1/2 years after I bought my truck, and 4 years after he got off of active duty, bought a house and got married. Life is Good!

Re: 67-72 wish list
Convert it to 4 wheel drive. Put a 5.9 common-rail cummins and a 6 speed in it. Install A/C.

Re: 67-72 wish list
The best modifications I did to my C10 were..... LT1 swap (basically any modern fuel injected engine), 700R4 (highway is much nicer), Bucket Seats (or a nice bench), Air Bag Suspension (rides like a "new" truck would) and a modern 4 speaker stereo (I plan to add sub(s) as well). This is probably my top 5 picks. Exterior wise, upgraded head lights, LED taillights (safety reasons, the stockers are DIM! in comparison), Wheels/Tires and Stance (Air bags handle that)
EDIT: Oh and power/disk brakes if it doesnt alreay have them!

Re: 67-72 wish list
Sounds awsome (for me) but might be a bit much for my 15 year old to start out with... I think I will stick with the SBC and a brick under the gas pedal...
