Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
GREETINGS,
Anyone run one of these or something like this? I'm seeking something to hold a 33" or 35" x 12.5 tire. Ideas or info greatly appreciated. http://www.truckcandy.com/TC/TireGate/HitchGate.htm

Re: Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
Wow, that thing is gonna bee a jigglly sucker. All that weight in the hitch I can only emagine how much shaken and wigglin it would doo off the pavement
I am guessing, never see one upclose. For your rig I would get something custom built, not a bolt on pre-fabed deal..there are alot of custom fab shops that could whip somethig up. I made mine..took me a month or two but I made it

Re: Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
BURT 4X4 is totally on the money
I have one (no swing away) that attahes to a reese style hitch (came with the truck)-- It is great for saving space --but man does it make noise lol-- even with a 'tight fit' etc-- Too much weight for that little square hole lol My 2 cents. Jon |

Yeah they are fun to make arent they....I mounted mine onto the roll cage.
there is no jiggle at all (so far). It started life as a 50 roll bar on craigslist from a S10 I think

Re: Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
The place i bought mine from is no longer around, it was called 4x4Iron
But if you google 1000lb trailer spindel tire carrier you will see what I used. The shakle bars were about 6-8" long and they are welded inside and out. Ithink I left about 1 1/2" sticking out of the bumper and the rest of it is welded up inside not only on the bumper itself but the frame mounts too so when I am pullng from thoes shakels I am directly pulling from the frame. Good Luck

Re: Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
You can get a pretty sweet builders kit from AtoZ fab with a 1k or bigger spindle and the wheel plate and clamp and everything here:
http://www.atozfabrication.com/store...lders-Kit.html I used that in conjunction with a $50 roll bar from an S10 cut-up and yes it swings away. Also can use tailgate to set tire on when bolting on or off the mount

Re: Spare Tire Carriers Hitch Mount.
This came with my new ride. 33x12/50-15 is what this had on it. Spare is in back for now. Notice the two hitch outlets.
