Someone buy this truck so I don't see it anymore!
Check out this truck (not mine):
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...202462537.html I went and looked at it about 4 years ago and the guy was asking the same price (without the engine work I believe). I didn't have the scratch then, and well, I don't have the scratch now, but dammit I still want it!!

Re: Someone buy this truck so I don't see it anymore!
Too far away but big block, lots of goodies and factory black to boot. Faded original paint works better for me than a quickie coverup paint job that hides who know's what.
Right now if steam boats were ten cents apiece I'd have to hitchhike to the river bank just to be able to walk up and down and holler "Ain't that cheap!" 610 bucks or a plane ticket 25 bucks for a three day Washington transportation permit 4500 for the truck 514 for gas per 1581 miles @ 10mpg = 158 gallons X 3.25 average per. 200 Motel rooms 100 food 5749 or so to get it home. I still don't have the money to do it. Last edited by mr48chev; 02-22-2011 at 12:38 AM. |

Re: Someone buy this truck so I don't see it anymore!
Mr48, I bet he'd take $3500 so out of pocket would get a little better!
Too Much Stuff...that's what I am saying, if we get a member to buy it we don't have to see it every time we check the MN Craig's. I just hope whoever buys it will keep the patina. It's got parchment interior that is pretty weathered and the top of the drivers door window sill is rubbed down to clean metal from a sweaty arm resting on it for years....pretty cool I'd buy it, but then I'd have to live in it as i am pretty sure the locks would be changed when I got home...the wife is still pissed I bought that 72 parts truck in the fall...if only I could convert her over to the darkside!

But sadly I too would be living in it. I do kinda miss the bare steel on the drivers door on my truck. Heck mine even had the glass worn down!

Re: Someone buy this truck so I don't see it anymore!
If I could afford it and to go get it, it would be headed for a friends paint shop soon after I got home with it and got all the mechanical pieces checked out and up to snuff. I've driven trucks with worn out old paint so long that I call it worn out old paint and don't care anything for this "patina" nonsense. I've got patina is another term for I'm lazy and cheap>

Now, there is a difference between having some surface rust and blemishes, and really needing bodywork and paint and just calling it patina. This truck looks like it is somewhere in between. either way it would look awesome in a new tuxedo, or like it is in now in worn out wranglers

Re: Someone buy this truck so I don't see it anymore!
Patina is neither a plus or minus. A really nice quality paint job is always a plus and a poor cheap paint job is always a minus. The main thing that makes this truck desirable is that it is an original survivor and once you paint it it can never have that status again.
