Should I buy? What to match?
I have a good line on the following from someone I know and mostly trust(trust him more than people I do not know) I have him at just under $1500 for the following:
Kingpin chevy front 60-professionally assembled. 5.38:1 yukon gears, highsteer, 1 ton tie rod, disk brakes, detroit locker Corp. 14 bolt rear - professionally assembled. 5.38:1 yukon gears, drum brakes, detroit locker all stock chevy brackets intact. I am not sure what to match with in the rear end? I am seeing several dana 70s rear around a couple dana 60 rears and 14 bolt as my options. Which should I go for as a rear end? Also since it is a 5.38 front will i have to change out my carrier? Thanks all.

Re: Should I buy? What to match?
What exactly are you asking? If it comes with a 14 bolt rear why not use that. It is better then a dana 60 rear..

The 14 bolt is definitely an awsome rear end. Look at any serious Rock Crawler and out of 1000 you'll probably find 995 14 bolts. They're indestructable.

Re: Should I buy? What to match?
Sorry all I did not realize that it posted the set. The rear has sold. he wanted 2500 for set and is now asking 1500 for front. I am thinking about offering him 1200 and going from there... I have a line on a 14 bolt rear for $100 complete. Just need to research a bit more and make sure it is the right one.

Re: Should I buy? What to match?
I've ran the 14bolt in five of my trucks in the past and never had a single problem with any of them. The one thats under my 72 has been there for almost thirty years, the last 20 with a Detroit locker and its just starting to need a rebuild. Just my two cents, hope it helps.
Also to answer your question, if you find a 4.10 or 4.56 housing you can put the 5.38's in it. I believe they wont fit in the 3.73 highway geared housings but I could be wrong.

Yea there are an awesome the 14bolts that's for sure! It just depends on how much money that you want to spend. That is not a horrible price but I have seen better lol.
