Re: 63 GMC Short Fleet

yeah I liked the 305, but I have already sold it, just really couldn't get the performance out of it. Plus it sucked gas like crazy

Nice! I'll be watching your build as I too want to do a 350/700r4 combo in a 63 although mine's a chevy should be pretty similar I think? and I'm currently in process of swapping out the entire front end of the suspension with disc brakes from an 80 c10 with power steering so I'll be tuned in!

Sounds like the drive train is really good. My truck is the same way all that i need to do is the metal work from here on out. Is your front grill in good shape?

Boy there are a lot of GMC guys that would kill for those valve covers. Great to see your building it the way you want it though.

Re: 63 GMC Short Fleet

my grill is in pretty good shape, it has a couple of dings above the pass side headlight, not bad though, it needs a rechrome too, but my hood is another story lol.

Re: 63 GMC Short Fleet

Coming along nicely 63
When I did mine it was a tight squeeze (3/4"narrower than the frame),but 2" ratchet straps (looped around and back into itself) fore and aft sucked the rails in just enough to slip the crossmember in.

Re: 63 GMC Short Fleet

It would probably be a good idea to support the frame from both sides of the cutting area. Less chance of it sagging before you get it all drilled and bolted up.
