Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
This is my all original 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed 2WD. It has a stock 4BBL carbureted 305 V8 with a TH350 transmission. I plan on doing a frame on restoration retaining mostly stock trim with some aftermarket rims and tires. It is a solid Canadian truck with minimal rust due to lots of undercoating. The cab corners have been replaced, and I will be replacing the inner fenders and rear lower bed panels. Eventually the truck will be painted candy apple red (possibly two tone with black in center, silver pinstripe). The interior requires a new dash pad and a carpet. The interior will be all black. As for under the hood, I plan on running the stock 305 with an Edelbrock carb, a set of Hooker headers and dual exhaust. I have stripped a complete Suburban for the air conditioning unit and power windows. I am 19 years old and this will be my first vehicle restoration. However, I have been around classic cars my entire life and helped my dad restore numerous cars.

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
Well the school year has finally ended and I plan to begin work on the truck. I've been collecting parts throughout the year. I purchased the dash pad and carpet from classic industries. The headers, collectors, studs, spark plug wires and inner fenders were all picked up at the Detroit Swapmeet. The rear lower bed patch panels were ordered through summit. I am currently removing the entire front clip to clean up the engine bay.

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
I have removed the entire front clip and am currently preparing to remove the engine and transmission from the frame. The truck came apart fairly easy without any major issues due all the undercoating and oil. As predicted the inner fenders need to be replaced. The firewall looks to be in good condition with some minor rust near the heater assembly. The fenders look to be solid with some minor patch work required on the inner structure. Once the engine is removed I will be replacing gaskets and putting in new valve seals.

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
I haven't posted in a while but i've managed to make some progress on the engine between school. I freshened up the 305 with new valve seals, timing chain and gears, gaskets and some VHT gm satin black engine enamel. I've also added an Edelbrock Torker intake, Edelbrock 600 CFM carb, Edelbrock Pro-Flo 14" air cleaner, Edelbrock Signature Series chrome valve covers, Hooker headers, and Accel spark plug wires.

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
It has been quite some time since I've posted any progress on my build. Since the fall I've managed to retrofit an a/c system from the same model year suburban, install power windows and door locks in the original doors, reconnect the wiring harness and replace the fuel lines. Two weeks ago my dad and I fired the engine for the first time and I couldn't be more excited! Over the past week I installed and aligned the doors and front sheet metal. I used keystone replacement fenders and am quite impressed with their fitment. I also picked up some 8" wide rally wheels which I plan to paint with Eastwood Rally Wheel Paint this upcoming weekend. Your feedback and suggestions are welcome! Thanks, Tyler

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
I haven't visited the board in quite some time but I figured I'd better post some pictures of my completed build. I actually finished it at the end of June for the St. Ignace Car Show and used it as my daily driver all summer long. Unfortunately, the car show season has come to end up here in the north and the truck has been put into winter storage.

That looks really good. Getting harder and harder to see or find one that clean in Ontario. I like the red. What is that? I am debating red for mine.

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
Thanks! You got that right! The color is single stage enamel "candy apple red" from American Finishes. I'm not sure why its called candy apple red since the paint is not translucent and has no candy qualities to it.

Thanks guys! I've got a few things to finish up on it over the winter and installing a lowering kit is one of them. What kind of lowering kit do you recommend using?

Re: Pav's 1985 Chevrolet Silverado C10 Shortbed
Truck looks very nice. Wish mine was that clean. In your first post you stated that it would be a frame on restoration. Not a question but how does it get so out of hand that we are compelled to tear the truck down to the frame before we stop. I see too many projects totally dismantled then interest is lost. I applaud your perseverance.
