camaro tach- I screwed up
I just got a camaro tach to install in my cluster. I did a really stupid thing though. I was trying to find out if the original needle off of a speedometer would fit on it. Well I found out that it wouldn't fit but I think that the tach moved when I tried to put the correct needle back on. Does anyone know how to put it on in the correct place ? When i put 12 volts to the needle points to 1000 RPM. Is this right or should it be on 0? Thanks for helping me. I knew that I shouldn't have taken it off.

I believe that with the ignition off its at 1000 and with it on (not running) its at 0

sorry to hear you removed the pointer. i havent had success doing that, so i leave them alone. try putting needle on when 12 volts are applied. should read zero. also try grounding the ground stud with 12 volts applied and see what happens.

There is not a sure 'zero' place for the tach, it is best to stick on the needle, use a separate meter, note the difference, then move the needle while holding the shaft with needle nose pliers, then check.
