Swapping rear bendix brakes onto '50 huck brakes rear end

Ok guys see if you can follow me here. I've got a '53 stock rear end under my truck. I have a complete '50 rear end that has the 3.55 ring and pinion already swapped out. But this '50 rear end has the huck brakes on it. I wan to swap my '53 bendix brakes onto the '50 rearend that has the 3.55 gears. (I think it will be easier than swapping the 4.11 gears to the 3.55 gears.)

So the question is how do I go about swapping the bendix brakes onto the '50 rear end. I've found articles about swapping the front huck brakes. It looks like you would just swap everything from the backing plate out. But do remove the backing plate do you just unbolt it from the rear end axle housings? Does the mean I have to replace the axle seals?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Swapping rear bendix brakes onto '50 huck brakes rear end

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the torque tube/gear set bolt into the housing? If it does then it's like a really long 9 inch ford housing. I don't know what would be easier but maybe you could take the 50 tube/gears and put it in the 53 housing since you will have to take the axles out to change the backing plates if they will interchange. I haven't really messed with the rear in my trucks so I don't know a lot about them.

So you think that you have to pull the axles to remove the backing plates?
