How rare?

I have done a lot of looking, and have only found one guy that has a tilt column for a manual trans. Did these ever come in the Blazers? If so, does anyone know how rare this might be? I had to use another 72 chassis for my blazer project, and I kind of like the idea of keeping the 4 speed.

Thanks!

Re: How rare?

Never saw one in a manual trans, thought back then the only tilts were with a auto shift on the column.

Re: How rare?

I put a factory tilt steering in my 72 Blazer. I bought and parted out a 72 Sierra Grande that had a 4 speed and a factory tilt steering, it was hard to find an original.

Re: How rare?

A guy here in central Iowa has a manual trans tilt for sale, and claims it came out of a Blazer. Not cheap, but I want one. If this isn't a factory option, I'm probably going to pass. Anyone have production #'s?

Re: How rare?

I have a tilt column w/ a Lokar floor shifter which is setup to look like a standard floor shift. It's definitely one of the nicer "ergonomic" additions that I've made to the truck. (The only problem I have is if I have to let someone else drive it they oddly can't figure out how to put it in drive, even with the pattern on the shifter.)

My column is out of a truck but you can easily convert a pre-79 Chevy/GMC van column as well. Trouble is these are now almost equally as rare. Here's a link to a how-to article:

Great info...Always loved your rig. It has been my favorite on this site. You still have it? If so any recent photos or upgrades done to it?

Re: How rare?

Back to the original question, tilt could be special ordered manual or auto (N33) but they're rare as hens teeth on the Blazers.

Thanks. Just been putting miles on it. I'm finally getting around to installing a hidden stereo, (stock) rollbar and spare tire mount. I also plan on visiting the folks at Softtopper this summer. So as not to further hijack the thread, I'll post up the progress soon.
