Step A Side
so about a year ago I was about to be given a '65 chevy truck frame and I was going to start building it so I started a build thread called "Project Ru5tyNut5" in the '60-'66 thread. It turned out I ended up not taking the frame because there were strings attached that I didn't want so I ended up posting pics of the process of bagging my '76 in that thread instead while I was looking for another '60-'66. I've since been going back and forth deciding on taking my '76 down to the frame and going all out on it or leaving it a junker and going all out on a '60-'66. I've decided (for now) to go all out on my '76 since I already have it as well as a Pontiac project so I probably don't need to add a third. Instead of continuing to post in the '60-'66 forum I figured I better start a thread here so that's what I'm doing. I guess I'll post some of the old pics from the other thread in here so there is a little content for now as it could be anywhere from a week to a couple months until I start back in on it as it is my daily driver for the moment and I'm not positive when I'll have my colorado back. as soon as I get my Colorado back the C10 is getting stripped naked.

Re: Step A Side
soon after I bought it
lowered it....a lot I bought it from the Oregon coast where it had been for like 12 years, that should explain the rust. it was cheap and it was advertised as a drivetrain for sale, it had a GM Performance Parts 350hp 350ci crate motor with less than 10k miles, th350 tranny with a stage 2 shift kit that had around 5k miles on it, and a 3:42 posi rearend that also had around 5k miles on it. the guy that owned it is a mechanic and owns a well known shop around there so I trusted that it ran great and it did/does....I would trust it more than more '04 Colorado.

Re: Step A Side
made some notches out of 2x4 3/16 square tubing
Did some measuring and marking on the frame Pretty big notches I know, but I wanted to make sure they were big enough that I never had to redo them no matter what wheel/tire combo or whatever else I may want to change

Re: Step A Side
one of my helpers
I did all the work with the bed on cuz I couldn't get it off alone and usually don't have anyone to help. finally had someone to help me lift it off after I was done so I could clean up some of the frame I couldn't reach before. my gauges

Re: Step A Side
well, that brings us to today. I plan to take it down to the frame, Z the front, do a stock floor body drop, narrow the rear end cuz them 20's are way too wide to tuck. I've got an entire new bag setup for it including valves, tank, compressors, gauges, air line....everything. and I will be offering massive amounts of free beer to anyone that wants to come help ;-)

Re: Step A Side
yea, I really like the tail dragger thing although I know it's not for everyone. even after it's transformation I'll drive it with the nose up although it will lay flat when aired out.
