If you are using HEI you'll need to run a wire from a fused, key-on hot on your fuse box. The HEI will need 12V to run. I believe the purple wire goes to the starter solenoid. Pink should have been the original wire for the points distributor, but you won't need it if you are switching to HEI.

Re: need help with wiring my engine so i can start it the first time!

In my truck I added an additional fuse block under the dash and ran my HEI wiring from there. It isn't necessary to add a fuse block, my I didn't have many spades left on the original so it was easier to do it that way then have a nightmare of scotch locks and splices. I figured my truck had seen enough of that abuse over the years You can come off an unfused key-on hot and add an inline fuse, or use a fused key-on hot and skip the inline fuse altogether. Does this answer your question?

Here's a pic so get the general idea

I ordered a after market wiring harness from the firewall forward that was converted for HEI so it made it plug and play with proper gauge wire and everything to just plug directly to the HEI from new harness.

Hey Brad, I have one of those on the BB in the Blue '67. Seems to work fine and makes things look great.
