ford & ih trucks

while looking for a truck to use around the house and to run to work now and then i found this 70 Sport Custom on CL and snagged it up. drove and rode nice on the ride home and 1st thing i did was remove the rotted out wooden topper, rides even better. need to replace the exhaust donuts, tires and a few bulbs here and there and fix the horn and it can be inspected

Re: ford & ih trucks

Man, I love those early binders. My buddy restored a '50-'51 L110 (I think). A sharp lookin' truck.

On that note, get it running and stopping, and rock it! It's such a cool old truck, and with patina being "in", I say give 'er.

nice travelall, i remember seeing a drawling that Stanford had done a few years ago of one that was slammed and the back shortened like 12" or so

Re: ford & ih trucks

I have an IH problem as well. Rebuilding a 392 as we speak for my unrestored 69 Travelall. Also a 71 P/U "Heavy Half" w 59,000 miles and a 78 Scout II w 54,000 original miles. If you want to see how sick I really am I also have 2 other Scouts, a 49' Farmall Super A, and an early 1900's 3hp IHC "Famous" Engine. Got hooked on thoose Scouts as a kid and just cant get enough of the old IHC's!

Re: ford & ih trucks

Any of you IH guy able to identify this bracket. I am putting my 392 ci for my Travelall back together and I cant remember where this thing goes. Thought I would figure it out as I went back with everything but I have not, lol. I made no reference to it in my notes so it must be something obvious. Any help is appreciated.

Re: ford & ih trucks

I started to mock up my 1950 yesterday. It is sitting on a shortbed frame and is lining up pretty good so far. I'm hoping to put the bed on it later this week. Of course it is going to have to come down a few inches!

Awesome man! I'd like to think mine motivated you
You gonna run stock springs and a full body?!
That thing will handle much better with IFS.
You got a build thread? Keep us posted!

Re: ford & ih trucks

Yeah, seeing yours got me wanting to get started on mine! I'll have to start a build thread. It is on a 69 frame with 87 front ifs and I have a 72 rear that I'll put on it to make it all five lug. I'm going to use the whole body because those big fat front fenders just look too cool!

I couldnt agree more with the fat fenders. I kicked around the idea of running the rears on mine but if i did that i would have to run the steps, and if i did that i would have to run the fronts..... and i really didnt want the fronts.

Im in thr process of doing a 73 disk swap on mine. Is your 72 your going to run have leafs of trailing arms? Id like to do a swap for the rear to 5 lug.
I kinda like the deep dish look so i'd end up cutting the centers out of the rear rims and having them rewelded 2" further in.

Theres a guy that did that on his older chevy with the 20" dodge rims, then had them chromed and it looked KILLER!

Dangit! Looking at those pictures of mine with the fenders again, it looks pretty rad!
