60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Decided to join the forum and post some picture of my build. Have come across some neat tricks here and there, and figured some of them may be fun to share with others. Alos love the thought of getting ideas form others doing the same trucks.

More project photos:
Of note, The fuel tank is a 69 Mustang tank. 20 gallons. Had to build a framework, but it looks great and was CHEAP compared to the aftermarket tanks for '60 Chevy Truck. |

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Control arms are stock. Powder coated and rebuilt with new control arm shafts and bushings from CPP. Have not seen anything aftermarket for 60-62. They make some very nice tubular control arms for 63-66 from CPP and there are others that have them as well.

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cbe/full.aspx?Page=86 Looks like you can get them here as parts or an assembly- unless I'm not understanding what you're looking for-
Sorry not trying to hi-jack your thread, Tyrone. |

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Daverod, love the spud comment from my fellow Idahoan. I grew up in Twin Falls, not too far from you there in Poky. Went out and checked out your projects, looking good. How many 60's C-10 do you have? Looks like a lot of work, and of course fun!!!

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Thanks for all the comments on my interior. I have set out to do all the work on this project myself, so I learned how to sew, and jumped in with both feet on the interior. Actually was a lot of fun, and not entirely difficult. Currently working on trying to fabricate some sweet fiberglass door panels and speaker pods for the lower door, then will upholster those to match.
Just finished the seats which are 2000 Chevy Silverado seats 6 way power, heated. I had found a new set of factory leather covers for those on E-bay, so I took the easy way out, and bought the rest of the interior material to match those. |

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Are heated seats as easy as plugging them in to power or is there more to it?
Looks great and good job doing it yourself. I was once told if you are going to drive a classic you should know how to wrench it yourself. You've taken that to the max! |

I purchased 2001 powered, heated seats on e-bay, but did not have the other goodies needed to hook up the seat heaters. Since I was recovering the seats, I just added aftermarket seat heaters. They are plug and play. come with the switches, relays. You just need to provide power and ground. I went to the trouble to cut, and install them identically to the stock seat heater location. I have tested them, and it sure will feel good to sit on a warm leather seat on cold Idaho mornings. Thanks for the encouragement. I love to turn a wrench. Really wanted to do my own build. I would encourage all of you truck enthusiasts to do the same. Most of these things are actually not more than just not being afraid to try, and with the money you save by doing things yourself you can afford to do them several times to get it right. |

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
I also wanted to note to anyone who is unaware of the impact that Dynamat and an insulator have on these old trucks.
Dynamat is a sound deadening product that works extemely well to deaden road noise and vibrations in automobiles. Most of the quieter cars on the market use this product, or similar products available. The insulation mat provides for a warmer or cooler interior by reflecting and keeping warmth or cool inside/ outside where it belongs. Make sure you get a product for this application. The stuff you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot has air pockets in the foil pack and can trap condensation. There is a bit of expense, but the benefits are pretty substantial. The inside of my cab is very quiet, and should stay a lot warmer and cooler than most. Just another tidbit I wanted to share with other enthusiasts. Look for more to come. Keep on Truckin |

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
A little different take on the 1960 Chevy Truck door panel. Took some serious thought, and then some time to create, but I am pleased with the results. I also ended up making a recessed bucket in the window pillar for my tweeters. They angle towards the driver and then flush into the upholstery. Mad for a great location. Now on to the next task.

Re: 60 Chevy Truck Custom Build
Yea the end nuts were what I was looking for, but now I'm questioning if they're necessary to replace. The ones we have seem fine other than needing a new nipple. But I need to clean the grease out and see if they are tight or wobbly.
