Roll Bar - questions and wants

I took the 6 point roll bar that was in my Blazer out and sold it. I am going to install a 4 point bar. There were no factory bars correct? Dealer added bars were what diameter? Anyone have a good one that they are selling and are they going to Spring Carlisle?

Re: Roll Bar - questions and wants

When I bought my K5 in 93 the owner told me the 4point bar was factory...now I believe it was either SmittyBuilt or dealer install. I don't think GM was putting them in the Blazers.
Custom fabrication shop is your best bet...premade stuff just never fits right.

Re: Roll Bar - questions and wants

Both my 72 Blazers had roll bars in them and I believe they were factory. They were painted the same color as the interior color. They are not listed on the option as Roll Bar so I dont know which Blazers got them so it must have been some package combo. I do remember back in 1975 when I was 4 years old my dads 75 Blazer had the roll bar in it when we picked it up at the dealer because the first thing I did was grab onto it and start swinging on it. My dad then yelled at me not to do that. I think they became mandatory at some point till 76 when the top only came off after the front seats because you did not see any roll bars after that.

with Burt.

Find a local shop & have them build you 'exactly' what you want, the end result will be well worth the $$$.

Re: Roll Bar - questions and wants

correct.. No factory roll bars. I worked at a dealership back then. And very, very few were even dealer installed. Most were installed at 4X4 shops where they were usually bought. Or by the truck owner. Back in the early 70's, at least in the south west 4X4 shops were springing up on every corner like 7-11's

I have to differ... That 75 roll bar was factory. My dad would never spend more money to get that done. I asked him today in fact and he told me that was how he ordered it from the factory and the roll bar was just there with the truck.

You're right. Later models you could get roll bars. But I thought we were talking our first generation. Guess should have made that clearer.

Or just buy the one in the catolog for 59.95. LOL! If it was only that easy. I would go the custom route if I were you. Good luck!
