any ideas on how to get this home?
im hoping to go to a swap meet in a few weeks and buy 2 pieces of trim...the 2 skinny pieces that go along the top of the bed,i think they are like 8 feet long or something....well,i have a 4 door dakota with a 6 foot bed....any ideas on how to get this trim home without beating it all to hell?

open the end gate and fasten the trim down to the bed with tape or rope.

If it really is a concern get a piece of thin walled pvc drain pipe big enough to transport the trim pieces in. Just a few bucks for a little insurance.

i think ill go with the suggestion of the pvc pipe....never thought of that....i thought of maybe a 2 by 4 but the pipe would protect it all the way around....thanks

I have a newer chev pickup, maybe the beds a little longer, but its suppose to be a six foot bed............
Still carry a few 8 ft 2x4s in it, placed corner to corner..................

Go to the local carpet shop, They would probably give you the thick cardboard tube that the carpet comes rolled on...

PVC is what it is shipped in from places like Goodmark.

If you go with the pvc, also get a plug to put on the end. Of course you can always do the duct tape plug.

put it down against the tailgate and then set it on the top of the cab and tape it down

PVC...
It's how I've shipped my fishing rods with UPS. Stronger and cheaper than most things you buy made for the purpose.
