Re: Guys with 3.73's
283 cid 3 speed manual (still 1 to 1 high gear) 3.73 rear end, 283s do not mind rpm's
With 235/70r15 tires I was running 3000 rpm at 60mph (Ran great but Loved fuel) with 255/70r15 tires I was running 2800 rpm at 60mph (Ran great but still Loved fuel) now with 3.08 gears and 255/70r15 tires I am running 2200 rpm at 60 (seems like less power but hope it likes fuel less) Just put gas in it yesterday at $3.99 a gallon

Re: Guys with 3.73's
Thanks guys!
I have an old Small Journal 327 so I'm not tooo worried about RPM Right now I have 4.56's but lookin to put an overdrive setup on it, Gear Vendor's site says it'd put my final at about 3.56, and after the info you guys gave me, hopefully I can run 75 around 2500rpm or so. |

Re: Guys with 3.73's
I took out 308's for the 373's when I had my 327...it was a pig..the 373's work well with that motor??(not so much the BB)..unless you do alot of highway travel I would think about spending the ching......I think you would like the 200 or 700 trans with OD more and it will set you back less...but thats just MAO??
