Help, 4wd inop
We have a 2001 Yukon XL 2500 4x4. I was driving home a month ago in a snow storm when I heard a pop. The truck was in 4wd and I got a bad rattling sound (I couldn't tell from where). I put the truck in 2wd and the sound went away. When I got home I put it back into 4wd and the drivetain would bind so that the truck could not move. Once I'd disengage it would drive fine. What do you all think it might be? Front diff or T-case? It has the auto 4x4 function. Thanks for the help because I'm lost on this one.

Re: Help, 4wd inop
Closest problem I've ever had to that ended up being the actuator shift fork in the front end. Its not too bad of a job to drop the front axle and split it if thats the problem. It may still be the t case though, getting it up on a lift should tell you a lot.
