two piece drive shaft
Hey need some help here, i have a 1969 C10 and i want to keep it a longbed truck, but heres my problem i don't know if the two piece drive shaft will hold up to my motor. Its a 383 stroker with TH350 trans.I just have the short block with forged internals for now. So before i continue the build i need some advice on what to do with the drive shaft setup as i can see it will be my weakest link. I'm aiming on my engine build for 450+HP and torque numbers. and maybe a little touch of the fast juice.

take them dowm to a driveshaft shop and have new made to handle 500+ horse they will replace your tubes with thicker wall meterial and will replace the U-joints with heavyer duty ones

as long as you have good U joints you'll be fine. A 2 piece is stronger than a real long one piece shaft.

Welcome to the board neighbor!
I agree with longhornman, keep the 2 piece. Get new u-joints and a poly carrier bearing, you will be good to go.

i have a billet steel center support bearing already its pretty beefy haha. ill give inland empire drive shafts a call to see what price they give me for the pieces.

I.E driveline kinda pricey. Ask for 1350 yokes and joints.

yeah I've heard its kinda pricey. i just don't want to use the stock tubes and have them turn to spaghetti. (i'm going be taking the truck down to Irwindale speedway for fun)

inland is expensive! they do make carbon fiber shafts too but you know that will be an arm and a leg

many factory stock two piece driveshafts held up just fine in back of bigblock engines for 40years

lmao carbon shaft, hit one thing and they explode. We build 1310 2" driveshafts for stock cars, we even drill a 1.5" hole in the middle of the weld yoke. No issues so far. I'd just make sure your shaft is in good condition and ballaned w good joints.

seen bone stock ones doing 12's in the 1/4 with slicks. Like said above, if the shaft is done properly, the 12 bolt will grenade first.
