DH478 Toro-Flow Diesel Swap

Has anybody installed a V6 diesel in a pickup? Would one fit?

Thanks

Re: DH478 Toro-Flow Diesel Swap

I wanted to put one in my '64 C-30 1-Ton at one time, but never did. I've seen pictures of some installed. It would probably be a little heavy for a 1/2 though. Although the Toro-Flow would be interesting, they are known for problems, and stuck to my idea of putting in a 3-53 or 4-53 Detroit instead. ...someday.

Yup, the Toro-flow and the Olds diesels......... gas engines converted to diesel that were not well known for reliability. An old detroit would be cool, just make sure you have ear plugs handy.

Re: DH478 Toro-Flow Diesel Swap

A Toroflow into a '67-'72 is supposed to be almost a bolt-in, using GMC V-6 mounts and transmission. That's what the Toroflow was, a diesel version of the GMC V-6. This was actually a fairly common swap back in the 70's when there were lots of Toroflows around and gasoline was expensive. Toroflows are pretty rare these days, and are very tough to get parts for. I have some friends that have a Toroflow in a bus.
