I need the shift rod for my 1968, 396 BB & Turbo 400
I cant find mine, and I dont remember what it looks like, If you have one to sale I'll take it or if you can post a pic of one that may help also

confirm with someone else because I just got up from a nap to sleep off a migrane....

...but I think the shift rod itself is the same as any other auto......it's just the piece that mounts to the frame is smaller (a tighter U-shape) than the TH350 one...

I reused my th 350 one?? I guess since I reused all the parts..but when you say shift rod do you mean from the column or the U part??

gotta love not having wheel wells...lol..hope this helps

I thought that was right

And I think the only reason for the small bracket is with a big block the angle would be bad....probably would have interference with running inner fenders...but you wouldn't need anything different if running a small block with a th400 (for others reference I realize you have the 396)....

..the other option is getting a cpp or Lokar shift linkage. Gives a more positive shift feel....

UMMM 472 caddy........... I used the stock th 350 to mount the engine then swapped out the 350 for the BOP th400 I reused the stock linkage and trans coolerr lines..just slip back the trans X member and bolted it all in???

The original turbo 400 rod is different, has a bend in it and I think its a little longer. Th350 will work though.

Thanks for clarifying....I knew it would work but forgot it was slightly different by the bend and length!

I was meaning burb71 had the 396...I knew you had the caddy

I was just posting that someone with a small block and a th400 could use the th350 linkage if they wanted...

No problem since he's looking for the parts and a member

But that frame bracket wouldn't work with his big block and th400...
the rest of the linkage should...

Thanks everyone for the help and the pics, now I do remember that rod I cleaned it up very nice on the wire wheel but I cant find it.

Here's a pic of my factory BB th400 linkage, the rod is fairly straight.

along with the rod dose it come with the little swivel on the top and what ever I need to attach the rod on the lower end, Cotter pen and spacer or what ever was used.
