55-59 door hinges interchangable?
Are upper and lower hinges interchangable? I thought the only difference was the hold open feature. Will bolt in but out side of hinge seems to be hitting outer hinge pocket not allowing hinge to be adjusted outward. Any thoughts?

I remember running into the same thing on my 59. I had the lower in the upper and upper in the lower and couldn't adjust one of them. I have some hinge sets at the shop I'll try to remember to measure them and get back to you.

Re: 55-59 door hinges interchangable?
I was mocking up door door using two upper hinges. (all i had to use) Problem is door closes but needs to come out at the bottom. There is room in caged nut slot to do this but cant because hinge is hitting outer hinge pocket skin. Lower door hinge is also hinge binding on hinge mounting plate. If hinge could move out door would fit nice.

I'm having the exact same problem with mine. Hits the pocket on the driver's side lower hinge. I got so disgusted with it, I moved on to other stuff on the truck.

Re: 55-59 door hinges interchangable?
I had the same problem with my upper drivers side. I couldn't get the door to move out far enough to line up with the "A" pillar. I finally milled off 1/4" on the inside surface of the hinge and welded a 1/4" plate to the outside (this is on the section that goes into the door). Re-drilled the holes and did some filling. Now the door is flush and the hinge adjustment is in the middle. Sorry I don't have any pictures of the job.

I looked at the hinges I have and the only difference is the lower has a nut welded on the inside and the upper has the piece to hold it open.
