54 cab top swap
how hard would it be to just cut the top of the 54 cab off and put it on a different year is the bottom of the windshield frame going to be a problem with the one peice windshield. I'm looking at getting a 54 but it has a lot of rust in it and i figured it would be easier to just swap the tops on my other cab thanks for any help with this problem.

Re: 54 cab top swap
there are all kinds of patch panels out there. it may be a lot easier to fix the window. mine had some rust and there was a panel...
to cut the top require a very hi skill set i would be afraid to do it myself GT

Re: 54 cab top swap
The bottom of the windshield frame won't line up if you do the splitter roof. You could cut top to bottom below the dash but that sounds like more work than it is worth. There are 54s out there to be had.

Re: 54 cab top swap
obie16, It would be easier to fix. I had to do it on the cab I am working on. I would bend sheet metal strips in a 90 degree and would stretch or shrink them to get them to fit the profile, cut the bad out then weld them in. They do not make this panel for the 54 so you have to make it. If you need pictures let me know. I can post when I am home.
